5 Wallpaper Installation Myths – Debunked!

5 Wallpaper Installation Myths – Debunked!

Let’s get myth busting!

Myth #1: You Can’t Use Wallpaper in a Bathroom

False. You absolutely can – and we know exactly how to do it. Proper ventilation is key, and for added protection, a clear matte varnish can be applied over the top. With the right approach, wallpaper can bring stunning texture and pattern to even the most humid spaces (trust us, we’ve installed it in places like The Middle East!).

Myth #2: Any Decorator Can Install High-End Wallcoverings

Definitely not. We spend a lot of time fixing wallpaper installations that have gone wrong. Think of it like this: if you owned a Ferrari, would you take it to just any local garage, or would you trust a Ferrari specialist? The same logic applies here. High-end wallcoverings are an investment and deserve expert installation to ensure they last a lifetime.

Myth #3: Wallpaper Hides Imperfections

Not always. In fact, certain wallpapers (like metallics) can highlight flaws rather than conceal them. When working with older properties that have uneven walls, preparation is everything. We have the experience and techniques to create the smoothest possible canvas before installation.

Myth #4: Wallpaper Isn’t Suitable for High-Traffic Areas

Wrong! It all comes down to selecting the right type of wallpaper. Hard-wearing vinyl’s and grasscloths, for example, are fantastic for busy spaces like hallways, kitchens, restaurants, and hotels. We’ve installed them in countless high-traffic areas, and they hold up beautifully.

Myth #5: Wallpaper is Old-Fashioned

W-R-O-N-G. Wallpaper is timeless. It has an incredible history dating back to 1509, yet it remains at the forefront of interior design today. From traditional to contemporary, bold prints to subtle textures, wallpaper offers limitless possibilities. Just take a look at top London destinations like The Goring, The Londoner, and The Broadwick – proof that wallpaper is here to stay!
